Yesterday turned out to be a difficult day. To start with, I had to take the car into the shop. It turned out to be a minor brake problem that wasn’t covered under warranty, but the dealership decided to take the lumps. Since they did that I went ahead and got the oil changed, which came out to a lot less than I thought, and replace the air filter. Not too bad, other than having to stay there for a half a day. That’s one of the downsides of not having any friends.
After getting the car back I decided to run an errand or two. Leaving the parking lot I usually go left. Straight ahead, though, there’s a narrow road that’s prone to flooding in heavy rains. I had always wanted to go up there just to see where it went. This day I decided that I had nothing better to do so I headed up that way.
It ends at a lake. A lake I knew about, but never knew how to get there besides cutting through the back yard of one of the kid’s friends. Going this way, though, brought me directly to the lake and would’ve taken far less time to get there. Of course the first thing I thought about was telling my wife. The rest of the day was nothing but emotional pain.
